While the master bedroom closet paint dried I decided to cut out some beautiful butterflies I found online and printed out last week. I’m not sure if it’s because my parents were butterfly FREAKS when I was growing up or what… but I really love them. My parents use to catch them, photograph them, frame them, plan outings around finding them. It was fun and kinda weird. Now here I am grown and probably their age then and I find that I appreciate nature so much “in my older age”. Living in this house of glass makes me appreciate the beauty that’s right outside the door and I find that I’ve become a crazy bird watcher and I squeal whenever I see butterflies fly past the window while I eat my breakfast in the morning. You can’t miss a thing around here. It’s living inside… but outside. I purposely planted many plants that would attract butterflies… and they really do!
These printed butterflies look so real. I cut each one out and got ready to play.
What the hell was I going to do with them? I don’t know. I don’t know why I do half the things I do. It just seemed like a fun way to spend some time while paint dried. I used a little ball of handi-tak on the back of each of them and ran around the house sticking them all kinds of places. It was great because everywhere I put them seemed to bring the wall, the room, the space to life. What a geek!
You have to admit, it looks like some butterflies got loose in the house.
Since they’re just paper I can enjoy them for a while and then they’ll “fly away”.
As I was running around like an idiot with these silly things feeling like I was in the middle of a tropical butterfly paradise, I heard the strangest sound… like someone trying to play a violin but didn’t know how. It was weird. I went to the back of the house and looked out the window to find that black birds had invaded the trees all around my house. There were hundreds of them. I quickly grabbed my new camera that has a video feature and tried it out.
If you watch the video, please excuse my first attempt to use it. I was ALL OVER THE PLACE and the birds were moving so fast I was freaking out. Sorry if I give you whip lash. I need lots more practice. But it’s pretty crazy! You can hear me giggling cause I could hardly believe it. (luckily I escaped without any poop!)

Once the birds finally flew away (it lasted a good 10 minutes!) I had my camera in hand so I took some pictures of some pretty succulents in the back yard. They are SUPER happy right now with the mild weather and little bursts of rain we’ve been getting. Plus, I really need to use this new camera and try to figure it all out. I’m overwhelmed.
So it really was nature Sunday… butterflies, birds from hell, and pretty little succulents. I think my paint is dry!
