I really can’t seem to put my mind to anything lately, as I seem to drift back to our friend Charlie as I go through my day. It’s hard to lose someone that you truly admired and cared for especially when you know you missed a million times to see them. Isn’t that the way life and death is. We always think we have more time. That’s the one thing that really sneaks away from us.
I think at times that Charlie was like many artists…. he knew he was good and was proud of his work, but had those days where he wondered if anyone else thought so. Did anyone else care about what he was doing? Did they fully appreciate his work and the beauty of every piece. If you’re an artist, you know exactly what I mean. Today I’m sort of just thinking out load because that’s what a blog is for, right. I’m thinking that I’d like to tell you that YES, he was loved and people were amazed by his art and way of life. People did care and I can tell you they did because in the last two days I’ve had over 600 hits on the two posts that I have on this blog about Charlie. They come from all around the world. Search engines are being blasted with “Charlie Stagg” searches. I’m happy about that. He deserves much recognition for all he did and achieved in his life. Don’t we all.
Yesterday a friend of ours brought over a local magazine called VIP. It’s put out by our local news paper and I can’t say that I’ve ever even seen it. This particular issue was about weddings and planning so I found it odd and wonderful to see that Charlie’s beautiful DNA sculpture was featured in it.
Strange to see it in this magazine, and strange to think that he’s gone. But happy that people are taking notice and remembering. And happy to see his work… anywhere… and hopefully everywhere.
