closet progress

Between butterflies, swarms of black birds, thunderstorms, art openings, and learning how to use my camera I managed to get a lot done on the closet this past weekend. I know this project seems like it’s taking forever and well… that’s because IT IS! It’s almost like building another room inside a room. Complete with dry wall, electricity, new light fixtures, custom shelves, trim, and eventually new doors. I do-not-like-doing-closets, Sam I Am. I do not like green eggs and ham! But I will love it when it’s finished.

Closet Progress

I sanded all the sheetrock, textured everything, sealed with a coat of primer and re-stained the only support beam in the closet. All the trim was attached and all the little cracks and joints were caulked. Richie won’t touch a caulk gun on inside projects so I’ve become a pro caulker. A coat of white primer and then got one coat of white paint on everything. All the shelves are in the back of the house scattered around and I have one coat of primer on those (front and back). I’m deciding on light fixtures and buying this week. (trust me, nothing fancy!)

The white paint is really making me happy. Seeing everything all clean, sealed and pretty is A GOOD THING. I photoshopped some lines where the bars and shelves would go so you can get an idea.  I guess that was stupid.  It’s pretty self explanatory.  But you know me..
always showing and telling way more than is necessary. :-)

This will be my last post of this closet project until I’m ready for the final reveal. Fingers crossed I’ll be finished and boxes unpacked by the end of this coming week. (Please, let me be…, please let me be… please let me be.)

I have to replace these temporary lights with something else. Richie put these basic porcelain ones in cuz they’re cheap and I needed the light to work. I’ll probably do a “low profile” fluorescent fixture on either side. Hey, it’s just a closet ….. I tend to fret over the most minor details and closet lights really shouldn’t cause anxiety.  Right?  (laughing)

Richie will probably think I’ve lost my mind but I’m dreaming of all new hangers!
Yes, I dream about hangers.  Hangers that all match.  Hangers that are all the same color and beg me to hang my clothes back up when I’m finished.  Those kind of hangers.
If new hangers can motivate me to hang my clothes back up instead of throwing them around I bet Richie would drive me to the store and steer the loaded cart!
