Today I’m featuring a close friend who is not only incredibly kind and generous, but a wonderful artist who is having an opening tomorrow for his exhibit “Criador Anima Dos”.
Marty Arredondo has been in our lives for as long as I can remember and we share our love of art, home improvement, good food, and we attend our favorite concerts together every chance we get. We’ve rocked out to Arcade Fire, Radiohead, Morrissey, REM, Sigur Ros, Zwan, and many others. When it’s time to buy tickets, he’s always good to go. He got me hooked on Florence and the Machine before she really hit it big. He’s got great taste! He shares his delicious home made hot sauce, delivers baked goods when he comes by (he knows I love those sweets!) and is an all around creative, fun, and generous person. We are lucky to have a few pieces of his art. if you’re in the area, I hope you’ll attend. His work is vibrant and “fantastical”.
The radio station where I work did an arts feature today for his show. You can listen by clicking this link >>> Marty Arredondo Interview
This is a small piece that I made a fuss over during the holidays and Marty gifted it to us last week. I just about had a cow. Who does that? He’s so kind and giving. We have so many large pieces of art in the house and he often works on a small scale… which I really appreciate.
Here’s another one that needs to find a permanent place in our home. (I have so much art scattered around until I finish one room or another) Oh, and YES, I did end of getting a new Canon Camera. It’s so amazing but I don’t know what the hell I’m doing yet. The options are endless and I’m learning. These pictures look pretty nice to me and I haven’t learned even 1/4 of what this baby can do. It’ll be fun.
Here again is another wonderful small piece. Much of his work has a thick shiny clear coat over the top. He’s a car painter during the day and has access to many wonderful paint products and tools. He uses much of that knowledge when he paints on cars and surfboards…even glass. I have a thing for trees and birds so this I really loved.
There are some other articles about him and his upcoming exhibit along with a little history and story. You can visit:

Here’s the first one we ever got from Marty. “To be the Sin”. It’s pretty big. Hard to tell by the picture but it’s about 33.5″ x 27.5. Full of color.
There will be plenty of wine and hors d’oeuvres and of course good friends and “fantastical” art. It will be such a nice break from home renovation. So thanks Marty for getting me out of the house. Sometimes I forget that I do have a life and lots of interesting and amazing people in it.
MARTY ROCKS
In many ways! Hope to see you at the opening.
