yep, you heard me… collard greens… the color of Christmas and envy (which you should never be!) AND some beautiful purple turnips to go with it!

It’s been such a great day today and Richie and I worked in the yard most of the day raking leaves, trimming plants and bushes, and cutting back some small trees. We’ve both been aching to get outside and tidy up.  It was good timing because it looks like we are going to get rain the next couple of days.  It was the perfect day to be outside and enjoy.

Yard work sure makes you HUNGRY! Just in the nick of time Richie’s mom stopped by with a big bag of home grown collard greens and turnips from their winter garden. Their garden is huge and they share good! So if you’re from the south, you’ll totally get this dinner we fixed tonight. If not, I encourage YALL to try it! (ha!).

I have these moments when I cook something and for some reason the food and the colors look so damn pretty you just have to take a picture.   Plus having a new kitchen makes everything look and taste better.  :-)  Delicious.
