POST UPDATE: Part II
The counters are now complete. Island is secure and they cut the hole for the stove. Lots of dust. More to clean. But also more to LOVE!
Post – Part I
Yes, things are happening in the kitchen… but I’ve just been too stressed and too busy to sit down and post anything. It’s time for a few shots of what’s going on.
It’s so tempting to wait until it’s done, but that may be another couple of weeks so I’m excited to share the progress.
Now that the cabinets are done, I have to stain and finish everything. Stain is NOT my first choice, but Richie wanted stain so I’m doing my best. I’ve got all the drawers and doors on the main base cabinets done and about half of them have their first coat of urethane. They’re coming out really nice and even though I’m definitely not a finisher by trade, I’m doing okay with it. Here’s a few shots of the stain going on.
There’s 21 drawers and 6 doors… but it feels like there’s a 100. Yes, I’m being dramatic but it’s a lot. It makes me appreciate my cabinet maker even more because he had to build every damn one of them. Bless him!
The countertops are on but not quite finished. They have to come back tomorrow and cut the hole for the stove and secure the top of the island. Of course I couldn’t resist taking a picture after they left for the day, as I think it’s so beautiful I could just cry. I’m a simple shit, I know, but I’ve put so much time, thought, work, and planning into this project that it feels amazing to see those shiny white tops. I’m pinching myself. (but it’s not over yet!)
The skink is so, so, so,…. well I’m speechless. I don’t know how to tell you how much I love my Kraus sink. Just take a look. No words are needed!
It’s starting to come together and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Kitchen remodels are so BIG to take on and I’ll be happy to get back to normal.
Eating out SUCKS! I think I’ve gained 10 pounds! Obviously I’ll post more pictures as we get more done. You know what I’ll be doing this weekend!
