He Lights up my Life!

While the rain moves in and constantly stays over our house… Richie decided to move inside and tackle the electrical chaos that is going on in our “studio” area of the house.
We hired electricians to do the front part but the back part was something Richie knew he could handle when the time came. (saved us a couple thousand, too!) So with the help and knowledge of his father they have been working on it for the last couple of days. I snapped a few pictures. Boring pictures… probably, but trust me when I say we’re happy to be getting this done. It was long over due and now we can shop for some lighting and clean this space up.

The entire house was wired in a way that “works” but isn’t really practical, as each beam had electrical outlets or “plugs” at the end of them and then the lights or ceiling fans were outfitted with plugs and plugged into these outlets. Not something we were happy with. Everything is getting “hardwired” and additional fixtures placed. Richie is also making me happy by replacing all of the outlets and switches with nice WHITE ones instead of the crap brown ones that are there. I’m so tired of brown I could barf!

Here you can see how the house was wired.  Electrical outlets for every light.  EEEEK!

The picture below shows how Richie  pulled new wired to the center of each beam and are ready for the track lighting that will be installed.  Once installed each beam is sealed with a trim board that hides all the wire.

Existing BROWN outlets gets switched to WHITE.

A good portion of the studio walls already have sheet rock under the paneling but the exterior wall was just insulation.  We’ll have to hang some rock on these walls.

While he finishes this up, it’s my job to get online and order all the lights and fans for this space.  I HATE shopping, but it’s gotta be done, as the wires will stay bundled until we get them…. so I better get going….
Have a great weekend!
